The Vision Behind My Lil Startup
I’ve been an entrepreneur for about 25 years, and my journey started at age 11 with a hotdog stand at the end of my parents’ driveway. I sold $40 worth of hotdogs before the police shut me down for lack of a food permit. Despite the setback, I caught the entrepreneurial bug, and that thrill stuck with me. By my 20s, I was building my first real companies, and have been loving every minute since.
I'm always looking for fun things to do with my daughter, Chloe. She’s at that age where she's tried lemonade stands but never made much money and didn’t really love it. I encouraged her to try something different—something she loved. She made some slime and tried selling it. It was a big hit around the neighborhood. Her friends joined in, and they all had fun and made money. That’s when the idea hit: what if we offered this to other kids? There’s no alternative to the lemonade stand, but there are tons of kid-friendly businesses out there. Let’s create kits that can help kids learn, have fun, and become Kidpreneurs.
What is a Kidpreneur?
A kidpreneur is a young entrepreneur—a future founder in the making. With My Lil Startup kits, kids can create and sell their own products, whether it’s slime, cookies, or something else entirely. It’s about turning creativity into business and having fun while doing it.
